Plumbers Las Cruces- Now that the year 2021 is officially upon us, many of us have taken the time to pause and reflect upon the year that has just ended, especially given the trying times that the vast majority of us have had to endure thanks in large part to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, we also have taken the opportunity to reflect on the new year that has arrived and what all it will bring.

In terms of being a homeowner, the new year also offers the chance of taking much better care of your HVAC unit, which is undoubtedly the cause of many of a home’s biggest energy drains. When you take the time to ensure that your HVAC unit is properly maintained, not only will you obtain increased amounts of comfort, but you will also achieve better amounts of indoor air quality and savings on both energy and costs.

Here are some of the most common tips regarding both inspecting and replacing your HVAC unit throughout 2021.

*First and foremost, once all cleaning has been completed, you will need to look at your control box and all wiring, controls, and connections. If you notice that any repairs need to be made, be sure to get these done as soon as possible.

*You will also need to inspect the flue system in your home as well in order to make sure that it is properly attached to your furnace. This is something that only needs to be done if your home has this sort of system. If you notice that there are any problems, be sure to fix them, as well as look for any areas that may have become dislocated from the rest of it, as there may need to be replacements made here.

*In the event that you may have an older-aged HVAC unit, take the time to check both the motor and fan belts. From there, lubricate the motor and replace the fan belts if you happen to notice any and all sign of wear.

*You will also need to take the time to inspect any and all mechanical and electrical connections. This includes screws and other types of connections that are able to be loosened as a result of not only normal operation, but also mechanical stress as well. These are extremely important to make note of due in large part to the fact that connections that are loose are able to not only short out, but also lead to fires getting started as well.

*Be sure to pay close attention to your refrigerant levels, as you should take the time to check them with a pressure gauge manifold as a way to help ensure that the system itself is able to operate as efficiently and normally as possible. Refrigerant oil should be tested on an annual basis in order to ensure that all of the bearings aren’t wearing out, meaning that you should submit a sample of this oil in order to be tested for a multitude of reasons. These reasons could include foreign deposits, moisture content, and acidity.
